Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard said he is "sick and fed up" of people pinpointing particular individuals for the team's losses as he urged fans not to "nitpick" struggling captain Hardik Pandya after the team’s recent defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The MI skipper struggled with his line and length, also bowling two wides at a crucial time when MS Dhoni scored 26 runs off Pandya's last over with three consecutive sixes.

Pandya took 2 wickets for 43 runs in his four overs and struggled with the bat, scoring only two runs off six balls. However,Pollard put weight behind the underfire Hardik during criticism and said that everyone will appreciate him when his time comes.

"I am sick and fed up of [us] looking to pinpoint individuals; cricket is a team game at the end of the day. This is an individual that is going to represent the country in less than six weeks' time, and all are going to cheer him and want him to do well. So high time we try to encourage and stop nitpicking and see if we can get the best out of one of the great allrounders India has produced. He can bat, bowl and field, and has a X-factor about him,” said Pollard.

"I hope very well deep down within my heart that when he comes out on top, I'll sit back and watch everyone sing his praises" he added.
